Food Safety for Childcarers© From £69.00 + VAT
One day course (6 hours) Nationally Recognised Qualification.
Childcare settings offer unique opportunities for young children to try new foods. However, caregivers should be aware that the majority of childhood choking injuries and deaths are associated with food items. Most choking incidents can be avoided. Most children over the age of one year can digest almost any type of food safely, provided it is prepared and served in a way that helps them chew and swallow it properly.
Poor Food Hygiene and Safety can have a devastating affect on your business, whether you are a parent, a childminder working from home, or a large day care setting.
Whether you handle food occasionally or everyday, i.e. serving a snack or full meals - food safety affects you!
Inspection Officers want to protect people, especially children, who rely so much on their carers.
Poor Food Safety can also lead to:
Increased visits by the inspection authorities
Bad publicity, locally or nationally (4th August 2003 Susan Hamilton, an Edinburgh woman, found guilty of poisoning a child with salt, causing permanent brain damage and more recently court case of Ian and Angela Gay, from Halesowen, West Midlands, who were convicted on 13th January 2005 of force-feeding Christian Blewitt salt as a punishment over his behaviour are examples)
Infestation by pests e.g. flies, mice etc
Legal action may also be taken against offenders, possibly resulting in any number of the above
By receiving adequate training, you reduce the likelihood of any of the above.
We want to help you protect your business!
